QUESTION: Cucumber problem

We have been planting a garden for the past 8 years and have never had a problem with the cucumbers They are plentiful but a day after we pick them they get real rubbery and soft. What are we diong wrong or what is wrong with the soil. Thank you.

vancemason writes: Here in Denver I wait until the cucumbers are very "fat" without any significantly deep ridges before picking. Then we eat them within 3 days. No softies that way. When I pick them less "inflated" I had the rubbery problem too.
