Gather berries (3 to 4 cups and wash well. Mix with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water.

Cook over medium heat until a thick syrup forms, mashing berries with potato masher or fork.  Freeze to use later, swirling through softened vanilla ice cream or blend with home made vanilla ice cream at after churning and before freezing ice cream during ripening stage.
