I wait all spring to see these bluebirds arrive in our back yerd. To me they mean the bulk of our planting and harvesting starts with their arrival.
Brocoli is my favorie vegetable so I had to include this in my pics.
Sugar Snap Peas are so good raw, but are a hit in the family stir fry. We love them.
This is one of 3 monster size zucchini plants we had in the garden this year. To say we had a bumper crop would be a definite undestatement. I have elarned to be very creative with zucchini recepies. Even grated and froze some to backs breads later in the fall. We even tried zucchini pickles for the first ime, and boy were they are hit.
And finally, this is a look at our garden this labor day week end. When we sit outside by the fireand look at this vies, I fell like we are in our own personal paradise.

I started out wih the bluebirds as in my mind they represent the start of our largest porion of our planting here in Zone 6. That is not to say we are not starting seeds, and planning our gardens long before that. We harvest , can, preserve, freeze, dry our own vege's, herbs and crock pot apple butter from our own trees. I have learned a love of gardening from my husband who has the greenest thumb of anyone I have known. I was always my father most resistant of his 4 children o learning gardening and canning. I know he is having a good laugh looking down on me now, and I know he is proud of where I have come, thanks to my husbands love and guidance.
