Colorado State University (CSU) Extension has launched a new online study program for gardeners who want to turn their thumbs a darker shade of green.

The Certified Gardener Program, based on the Colorado Master Gardener curriculum, helps gardeners grow their skills. The program is open to anyone, in any part of the country, whether everyday gardeners or industry professionals. Anyone interested in learning the latest gardening techniques can sign up for courses and earn digital badges for each competency gained.

Participants can sign up for the full Mastery Badge program, smaller bundles of classes or individual courses that match a specific area of interest. While classes have a start and finish date, the online study component can be tailored to fit participants' busy schedules.

If you'd like to increase your vegetable gardening skills, you can sign up for the individual Vegetables badge. The class includes everything you need to know for planning a vegetable garden. You'll learn about planting times, layout and design, soil preparation, fertilizing, routine maintenance and frost protection tips.

After successfully completing the Vegetables course, you'll receive your colorful digital badge to show off to family, friends, clients, and employers.

A special feature of CSU's Certified Gardener Program is the opportunity to join an online learning community to share ideas and build relationships with like-minded gardening folks from all over the country.

The CSU Extension Certified Gardener Program website has all the details about the program, curriculum, course descriptions and tuition.
