Which is the best selling type of meat around the globe? At the moment that's pork. However, very soon that will change. Chicken is set to become the best selling type of meat in the world. The reasons are different - obesity problems in the western world, vastly growing population of Muslims etc. But do we know how to cook chicken and what are the actual benefits of it? Here is a hint of what the future may deliver.

The facts

Chicken is low fat meat. It's pure protein and it's extremely good for our health. It doesn't need lots of cooking or it becomes too dry. Most chefs boil it first and add it at the very end of the cooking process.

Anything sour such as wine or vinegar tightens the meat. If you need it tender use honey. It's sweet and delivers special taste to the meat which improves the quality immensely.

Another tip is to bake the meat in aluminum foil. It keeps it tender inside but still allows the heat to reach deep and to cook it. The foil allows also the fat to leak out, which guarantees you not only very delicious but also extremely healthy eating.

Meat goes very well with veggies. Carrots, rice, potatoes, peas, corn, broccoli are often used for fill for the chicken.

However, if you decide to bake the meat with no cover, you will need to brush it with olive oil. You still will get the top of the meat crispy but just the right amount to be delicious.

Boiling or steaming the meat is the healthiest option you have but it's also is the less tasty one. Add herbs in the water. Dry herbs aroma and taste dissolve in the water which transmits to the meat giving tasty feel. Tarragon or rosemary go very well with chicken but you can use also parsley or garlic.

According to oven cleaners from Milton Keynes the best way to cook chicken is by using convection. It's basically very hot area which surrounds the meal and reaches trough it and cooks it inside. The great things about convection is that it cooks evenly and you can hardly overcook something.

 

Now, i would like to share one of the recipes Jamie Oliver cooks but slightly simplified and made healthier.

Marinated chicken recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg Chicken breasts
  • Summer savory
  • Fresh rosemary
  • Garlic
  • Root ginger
  • Sea salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Wine

The herbs go in a bowl and should be squashed for the flavor to be bruised. Then add in a few tablespoons of olive oil and cover the chicken with the mix.

Tip: Don't put too much of it at once but rather repeat the process several times. It's important not to allow the chicken to get dry.

Add two glasses of Chardonnay.

The mix goes in the preheated oven for half an hour. Then take it out and cover it with sliced lemon and put it back in for another 20 minutes.

If you want to, you can replace the wine with honey. It adds completely different effect to the meat and makes it extremely delicious. A single tablespoon of honey would be more than enough. The sugar makes the meat looser and juicier.
