One of the sure signs of spring at my house is setting up the light stand.

This light stand was made by John Kelsey, the first editor of Fine Woodworking magazine, and it's been extremely useful to me over the years. It uses 4-ft. long shop-light fixtures and warm and cool fluorescent lights, which can be plugged into a power strip in whatever combination I need at the time. The frame is extremely light in weight and easy to move around. When not in use, the frame folds up and the whole thing stores under and behind a bed.
