Winter is here and now is time to enjoy fresh harvest of winter vegetables freshly picked from your garden. If you are missing some winter growing vegetables in your garden, here are the names that will provide you faster harvests. Beans: This quick growing creeping plant offers great harvest. This plant is easy to grow and requires warm weather. Provide full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. You can grow bush or give support to the plant for climbing.

Peas: Peas are cool season crop and prefer well-drained, compost-filled soil. Note that peas do not require too much of fertile soil. With a little compost or manure, you can enjoy greater harvest. Water sparsely and create good water drainage system.

Spinach: Spinach is a cool weather crop and takes around a month to grow fully. It requires well-drained soil rich in compost or manure.

Asparagus: Asparagus is a winter perennial that grows like stem vegetable and adds delicious flavour recipe. Asparagus has male and female plants. Female plants produce berries. Use loose soil for better air circulation.

Carrots: For long and slender carrots, use soft and fertile soil with better drainage. Loose and fertile soil will help roots to stretch deeper. Avoid using too much of clay soil because plant will produce shorter carrots which will become difficult to pull out from the ground during harvesting. Provide good amount of water and lots of organic fertilizer for better yield.

Turnips: Grow turnips that have a size like an apple and taste sweet. Turnip contains minerals, vitamins, fiber and folates and grows in winter season. Turnips are easily neglected, but they are fast and easy growing vegetable emerged as an attraction in the autumn garden. Turnip seeds germinate in few days and you can harvest in a month. Only thing that you must consider is regular watering. Keep the soil slightly moist for fresh green growth.

Fenugreek: This cool season crop can be grown in any type of soil, but loamy soils are preferred for better cultivation. Ensure better drainage and sunlight.
