Need to eat but don't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen? Throw together a quick summer meal with salad fixings, tinned oysters, hard-boiled eggs (one per person), and some cubed cheese (I like Jarlsberg or sharp Cheddar). Top with oil from the tin or your favorite vinaigrette, and serve with bread and iced tea.

Vary the dish by using tinned clams, anchovies, or sardines in place of the oysters, and throw in whatever's ripe in the garden: radishes, cukes, snap peas, raw green or yellow beans, tomatoes, and so on.
