Heirloom Tomatoes

"Heirloom Tomatoes"

"Radiator Charlie" lived up to its "Mortgage Lifter" nickname.  Although a tomato crop won't be paying off my mortgage any time soon, its claim to being large and tasty proved true.  The largest tomato I harvested weighed 1.7 pounds on my kitchen scale.  It was tangy and flavorful, reminding me of tomatoes from my childhood.  "Charlie" was hands-down tastier than "Granny Cantrell" and Williams Striped".  After an early invasion of aphids, I don't know if my "Beefsteak" will catch up and ripen before we get too many cool nights.  I will absolutely be growing "Charlie" again next year!
