Want to see how a presidential vegetable garden is kept? This video documentary, part of a series produced by the White House, gives a behind-the-scenes look at the history and progress of the vegetable garden project spearheaded by First Lady Michelle Obama.

White House chef Sam Kass narrates the video telling the story of the first garden on White House grounds since Eleanor Roosevelt's Victory Garden during World War II.

According to Kass, the garden has produced more than 200 lbs. of food (as of July), which goes toward feeding the family and White House guests.

The White House garden was first planted in the Spring of 2009 with the help of local elementary school children.

JadaE writes: Really beautiful garden! I hope future administrations keep up this really nice tradition! I bet the chefs really enjoy walking out and writing the menu based on what's ready for harvest...
