Autumn is in full force here in Boston. The mums are out, and Halloween is almost here. For me as a gardener, it's the end of the growing season. Containers are being moved inside, beds are being turned down and laid fallow. I'm also covering some my beds with hoop houses to extend some of my crops thru November. 

Watch the video for some great gardening tips from Mel Bartholemew, author of Square Foot Gardening, who talks about growing squash and pumpkins vertically, creating new beds and borders, and getting started in compsting. And please comment on what you're doing this month in your vegetable garden.
