Pumpkins as a marketing tool? Why not?
comments (0) October 30th, 2009 in GalleryMy family loves carving and decorating jack o' lanterns! We buy the small pie pumpkins to paint, and the larger pumpkins to carve. This year, my favorite hamburger place, Krystal Burgers, had a pumpkin carving contest for their Facebook fans. The winner will receive a $50 giftcard, which will buy a LOT of Krystal burgers. The photo shows my entry, a carving of the store's logo, with my very proud 3 yr old son, Will. This isn't the first time I've used a garden veggie to help a company market itself! I've entered pumpkins for Hershey and CVS contests in years past. They get a little free advertising via their contest, and I get to have a little fun with my favorite fall veggie! Who knows? Maybe I'll win the Krystal giftcard! If not, I still had fun...
Of course, I removed the seeds and roasted them for a great snack, and saved a few seeds for planting next Spring. I'm sharing this post with you, my fellow gardeners, just to celebrate Halloween, AND to remind you to have a little fun with this big orange vegetable! Happy Gardening to you!
