This video will show you how to start plants from seeds successfully. Seed starting is easy, and I used this method to grow several thousand plants lasts year.

Horsefrau writes: I was looking for a training video to share with a bunch of novice gardeners and this one was the best out of many, many videos posted on the internet! Thank you so very much for the clear and thorough instruction. I'm a big fan of watering from below and using another tray to tamp down your planting medium. On our farm we put 2 seeds in each cell and snip off the weakest seedling after they have all sprouted. We waste more seed that way but it ensures a plant in each cell despite variable germination rates. A first class video!!

IhateBugs writes: Hey, that's a faster way! Where can you purchase fine medium for sowing tiny seeds? Most of the major chains sell products (with fertilizer mixed in) that are really for larger plants.
I use old venetian blinds for labels - we find them thrown out by the curb. Use a pencil for marking; it lasts longer in the weather than a black permanent marker.

Jimgarden writes: Would point out that for most seeds it pays to plant more than one seed/cell and thin to best seedling rather than expect 100% germination. Also if you use shorter labels you can than cover the seed tray with a simple cover to maintain humidity and lessen need for repeat watering.

tazebell writes: While I appreciate the video I have to point out that it's not "media" in the flat. It should be labeled "medium". Media means a way of communicating, while the substance being tamped down is matter.
