Garlic is a staple in my kitchen, and fortunately, it's not hard to grow, harvest, and preserve. Garlic has also been a popular topic here at VegetableGardener.com. If you haven't grown it before, now's the time to start learning about it and order seed garlic for planting this fall. Feast on the links below, and by this time next year you'll be proudly showing off your crop to friends and family, and using to prepare delicious recipes.

Ruth writes: KimberlyAWood, garlic won't freeze. You plant cloves of garlic in fall, and they sprout in spring. See http://www.vegetablegardener.com/item/7554/plant-garlic-as-a-fall-crop for more info.

Ruth writes: Greg, check out this encyclopedic garlic site, based in Texas. http://www.gourmetgarlicgardens.com/. You can email the garlic meister and he'll be able to advise on planting time (and anything else you want to know).

yourownvictorygarden writes: Thanks for the garlic info Ruth. I haven't grown it yet in my home garden, but it's grown at the community garden I volunteer for. I'll have to tap their heads on when exactly I can plant it down here.
