I am growing gooseberries in Nebraska - a variety called PixWell. . .I like the term topped and tailed, and yes, this needs to be done. They seem to grow very well and need little care,

However, I don't find that these are in the least bit sour - very mild tasting, actually. Is it the variety I have that makes them sweeter? Sort of taste like a weak white grape. They turn a lovely blush color.

Also, I thought gooseberries had husks (like tomatillos) - or again, is this a variety difference?

I would love any recipes anyone would like to share.
