Re: Veggie Trends for 2012

Just this week I saw the new seed strips and discs at the home improvement center and bought one of each to test. As a big fan of seed papers, I'm discovering new ways to make them at home and give them as gifts. Kale has worked wonderfully for me. It germinates in 3-10 days so it's perfect for kids.

Re: Grow Some Spuds in Your Duds

Wow Jodi, thanks for the wonderful story about our potato growing experiments!

My family, on the other side of the country in Maine, are all proud of my antics now! And that's one state that knows its spuds.

We're finding that organic potatoes purchased at the store or farmer's market work great if they haven't been treated with a sprout inhibitor.

Still, we may break down and buy some seed potatoes to see if yield and quality are better. I'll add more pics and tips to HomeGrownFun.com when we get the next round of hand-me-downs planted.
