Mini Greenhouse 2 day build

We put this greenhouse together in two days (minus paint). Recycled sliding glass doors, and reclaimed doug fir lumber. The siding on the front was redwood from our house when we replaced the siding...

Re: QUESTION: When can I start a winter garden in San Diego?

Lucky you! And what energy you have... a new house and a new garden! Well, I am no expert but, I live in northern California so you should have even more success than I do. I put broccoli, cauliflower, parsley, carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, cilantro, green onions, radishes, beets, lettuces, onions, garlic, chard, plus violas, and alyssum in my beds in LATE fall/early winter. They all survived and even thrived through low 30's weather and a couple 27 degree nights! Now it's March and I'm picking fresh salad, herbs, chard MORE! Good luck!

Re: An Artichoke Among the Sages

I'm on my third year gardening in Northern CA. Sebastopol to be exact. This is the year that I will plant Emerald Artichokes, and Purple of Romagna artichoke. (Baker Creek is my best friend!) Thanks for the advice that they enjoy some cold! We had a horribly cool summer with minimal results in the garden 2010! Yuck... Hopefully with instruction from the gardeners on this site, and gopher interference I will implement; I will have success in the perennial vegetable arena. Thanks for the hints everyone, I am enjoying this site!
