I place pots of lettuce thoughout my garden under small shrubs and trees where they get dappled sun and regular watering from the sprinklers. when ready to pick, I place the pot on my kitchen stoop and pick outter leaves for dinner or sandwiches. Pick once and then place back in the garden for a second picking in a few days instead of cutting the whole plant.
