Seasonal foods can be extremely beneficial. According to a research made by some gardeners along with specialists in diet foods, our bodies' needs of different vitamins, minerals and proteins change with seasons. For instance, eat а light fresh salad during the summer but red, juicy meat during the winter. That's perfectly normal and is what our bodies require to function properly. Along the spring season you may eat more spinach and other green vegetables. However, what should we eat in fall then - pumpkin. It's not only delicious, but extremely, and i'm not exaggerating here, healthy as well. According to a laboratory research in which diabetic rats were fed with pumpkin extracts, the ingredients of the plant normalize the level of cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar.

Preparation:

 Get a large bowl and place the cut pumpkin inside. Cover with water and bring to the boil. Let it simmer for 15 minutes until it's nice and soft. You need it boiled for the next stage of the cooking. Heat up the oven and roll out the pastry (The surface on which you roll should be slightly floured). Get a tin, put the pastry inside, cover with the paper and put the baking beans over. Cook in 160C to 180C temperature oven for not more than 15 minutes. Remove both the paper and beans and continue cooking for 10 minutes. You want to have great looking pale golden base. When the result is achieved, remove from the oven to cool. Increase the temperature of the oven up to 200C. Get the pumpkin and smash it in another large bowl or use sieve. Add sugar, salt, half the cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the butter, milk and beaten eggs as well. Mix it all, pour to tart shell and cook for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to 150C and continue cooking for 40 minutes. 

Once the pie is prepared, take it out from the oven and allow to cool down. Remove from the tin and dust with sugar and the rest of the cinnamon.

Tip: Check constantly for the condition of the meal. It's better if you have a clean oven for the case. That also helps to reduce chances for fire. According to professional cookers, clean oven helps for better tasting food as well. Some pro cleaners recommend the usage of green solutions as they allow the oven to be used right after the cleaning.

 

Step 3:

Except for pie, pumpkin can be used to prepare a soup which only requires you to mash the boiled pumpkin and add it to the soup. You will get a pumpkin cream soup. simply baked pumpkin is also very delicious. Cut it to big pieces, preheat the oven and bake until it gets golden. Remove from the oven and dust with sugar. Pumpkin can also be used to prepare different types of drinks .
