Re: Protecting Transplants

Hi. I also plan to use the lightweight row cover on my brassicas this year. I bought lots if it, and I am going to make hoops three feet tall so the plants can stay under until harvest. Do you recommend removing them before harvest though? Thanks!

Re: Floating Row Cover

Hi. So I plan to use this row cover on my brassicas this year, everything from cabbage, broccoli, turnips, almost everything. I plant almost every common brassica. However, I plant to make the hoops tall enough from the get go so my plants can stay under them almost all season. I'm using the lightest weight fabric available from Gardeners Supply Co and I'm wondering if the plants won't do as well as under the fabric as if they were just exposed? Caterpillars are a huge problem in my area, and BT is expensive. I only use organic practices in my garden.

I read you added I can open the end of the tunnels for ventilation. Do you think that is sufficient? Or should I probably take it off once the plants are fairly large and start spraying?

Thanks!
